YouTube for Android: Official App, Offline Viewing & Your Uploads

To install YouTube on Android, use the official app in Google Play through YouTube’s mobile-app guidance. Installing the app, saving videos for in-app offline viewing and downloading a video you uploaded yourself are different tasks.

Get the supported app for your device

Check the current device requirements and developer listing rather than an old article’s fixed version. A download with a YouTube icon is not automatically Google’s official release. If a store says the device is unsupported, an unidentified older APK may not restore current service compatibility.

Use the supported offline feature

YouTube’s offline viewing FAQ explains that download availability depends on location, video and eligible account or membership options. Check the actual Download option and plan details. In-app downloads are stored for playback within YouTube rather than ordinary gallery files. Do not assume every video can be exported or converted to MP3 by installing another APK.

Download a video you uploaded

YouTube documents downloading your own uploads through YouTube Studio and using Google Takeout for your uploaded content. This account-based export is separate from offline viewing of other creators’ videos. Sign into the correct creator account and use its supported controls.

Third-party downloader claims

A downloader’s advertised capability does not prove permission to copy media or authenticate its package. Check rights, platform rules, developer identity and permissions separately. A website asking for a Google password or verification code is not necessary evidence of a trustworthy video tool. Our Vidmate media-claim guide explains this distinction for that specific label.

If a download does not work

Identify whether the app installation fails, an offline button is unavailable or your own upload cannot be exported. Check official availability and the actual account context before clearing data or replacing the app. Our APK installation guide covers Android package errors; YouTube support covers its own media and account features.

No unrestricted-download promise

We have identified official support routes, not tested every device or certified an arbitrary YouTube package. This guide does not promise unlimited offline exports, free paid features or permission to save every creator’s video.
